Writers Academy

DURHAM - The UNH Writers Academy is open to middle and high school students who want to spend a week in the summer writing and sharing literacy experiences with other students. Participants entering grades 5 to 12 can attend. Groups are organized by three different grade levels: 5th/6th grade, 7th/8th grade, and high school (9th -12th grade). All sessions are scheduled July 22-26, Mon.-Fri., 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., in Hamilton Smith Hall on the Durham campus. The cost is $170.00 per student.

Meeting with local authors is a highlight of the program. This year, featured guests will be Kim Cloutier Green, a poet from Maine whose first full-length collection, “The Next Hunger” (Bauhan Publishing), will be released this month; and Lisa Luedeke who grew up in Maine, lives in NH, and published her first novel, “Smashed”, last summer (Simon & Schuster).
