Bereavement Program

HAVERHILL, MA — Musical experiences, special keepsake crafts and a host of other fun activities will be enjoyed by children who have undergone a significant loss in their life at Merrimack Valley Hospice’s day long “Summer Break” program on Thurs., July 18 at Winnekenni Castle in Haverhill.

“Summer Break” is a free and fun program for children ages 6-13 who have experienced a loss” said Jessica Sharpe, LCSW, Bereavement Services Manager for Merrimack Valley Hospice. “During the program children are able to express their grief in creative ways – while building friendships with other children who have also experienced a loss such as a parent, grandparent, sibling or friend. Children grieve in different ways, and we are committed to offering a range of programs to help them through these difficult times.”

The daylong program, now in its 5th year, was created to give children who have suffered the loss of a loved one a chance to meet others that have similar experiences. The program is open to all children in the community. Children need not have any connection to Merrimack Valley Hospice to participate. The day is supervised and directed by Merrimack Valley Hospice trained professional social workers, nurses and grief counselors and expressive therapists.

Registration for this program is required. For more information on this program and other bereavement programs offered by Merrimack Valley Hospice, contact Jessica at 978-552-4904 or jsharpe@homehealthfoundation.org.
