Newborns in Need

Carriage Towne News

---- — NEWTON — Volunteer Appreciation Month, and Neighbors Helping Newborns is ready to celebrate their wonderful volunteers. The group is made up entirely of volunteer staff, craftspeople, packers, delivery persons, and more. They rely completely on the talents and energy of their volunteers. And they invite you to join them.

The next meeting will be on Wed. April 23, 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon, at the First Congregational Church, 6 Church St., Kingston. There will be all the usual activities of sorting incoming donations, packing layettes to be distributed to the hospitals, and knitting, crocheting and sewing many little things for the newborns. This month’s sewing project will be diaper shirts that are used in the nursery and NICU areas. There will be a celebration luncheon for all the volunteers; please join them!

Neighbors Helping Newborns is requesting donations of light weight sleepers (girls, newborn size especially needed), socks, receiving blankets, and boys’ sweaters. Clothing items in newborn or 0-3 months are used in the layettes given to needy families by the hospitals. Quilts (not tied, please) and blankets (knit or crocheted) are always needed. Please contact Linda Steward, President, with any questions (603-642-9396). Thank you very much for your continuing generosity.

Neighbors Helping Newborns would also like to send thanks out to Merry Stitches in Portsmouth, for their many valuable contributions to the Newborns sewing projects.
