---- — SANDOWN — Sandown Recreation offers a variety of Spring programs for residents of all ages.

PILATES: A brand new offering by the recreation department! Even if you know nothing about Pilates, our instructor Kris will soon have you working to restore your muscles and truly learning how to work your “core” while working on all planes of the body. Eight-week session is open to all levels; your plan can be customized to your ability. Class takes place on Thursdays from April 24 to June 12, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Ed Garvey Recreation Facility. A free demo will take place on April 17, from 6:30-7:00 p.m. at the recreation building. Pre-registration for the demo is mandatory. The eight-week class cost is $60.00 for residents and $65.00 for non-resident. Purchase a punch card for any number of classes for $9.00 per class.

ZUMBA: Everyone’s favorite invigorating class is back! Join instructor Amanda for an eight-week session on Tuesday evenings, April 22 to June 10, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Ed Garvey Center to get your Zumba-Cardio session going to the tunes of top 40’s hits and more. You’ll enjoy burning hundreds of calories while helping to tone from top to bottom. Come alone or bring a friend, this is the place to get your cardio going and have a few laughs. Working up a sweat has never been so much fun. The eight-week session is $60.00 for residents and $65.00 for non-residents. Purchase a punch card for any number of classes for $9.00 per class.

BALLROOM DANCE: The always-popular Ballroom Dance session will be offered for an eight-week session beginning April 13 and will finish on June 22. No class on holiday weekends. Instructors Bill and Maria will have you on the dance floor in no time at all, especially if you’ve never tried this before. Classes are small with plenty of individual help. The cost is $96.00 for residents and $106.00 for non-residents. The Beginner class takes place on Sunday evenings, from 5:30-6:15 p.m. at the Ed Garvey Recreation Center. Don’t wait to register; this class fills very quickly. A dance partner is required.

LEGO ENGINEERING: An exciting new offering for participants in Grades 1-3 this program will be offered on Thursday afternoons at Sandown North School at the end of the school day until 4:45 p.m. Sandown Recreation has partnered with Play-Well TEKnologies to offer this pre-engineering with LEGO fun for boys and girls interested in building cities, bridges and motorized cars and planes. Participants will have access to over 100,000 pieces of LEGO and will be guided by a Play-Well engineering instructor. The cost is the six-week course is $100.00 per participant. Registration for non-resident students in Grades 1-3 is now open. The maximum class size is 16.

MAD SCIENCE: An exciting science enrichment experience is coming to Sandown Central for participants in Grades 4 and 5 for six-weeks beginning April 17. Participants will enjoy this fun, educational program where they will explore the topics of color, electricity, light, magnetism, optics and sound. Each sixty-minute class will include hands-on experiments, cool demonstrations and weekly take-homes. Session is $77.00 per child.
