Integrated Pest Management

Carriage Towne News

---- — HAMPSTEAD - On Wed., October 16, at 7:00 p.m., the Hampstead Garden Club invites you to a fascinating presentation about Integrated Pest Management (IPM).

Gardeners wish it were all sweet scents and beautiful blooms, but there are insects that challenge our gardens. Rachel Maccini, from the University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension, a professional entomologist, will present on the local species issues as well as the possible invasion of the Emerald Ash Borer and the Asian Longhorned Beetle. There will be discussion and examination of the effective and environmentally sensitive approach to pest management for insects such as Japanese Beetles, white fly, and lots of other Southern NH insects that drive gardeners crazy! Spraying chemicals is not always effective or safe for the “good” bugs and birds. Come learn from the UNH experts.

This interesting program will be open to the public and will begin at 7:00 p.m., at the Congregational Church’s Hadley Hall, Main Street, Hampstead. Refreshments will be served.
