Trick or Treat Trot

EXETER - Exeter Hospital is hosting the first annual Trick or Treat Trot 3.5 Mile Run/Walk and Creepy Crawler Fun Run on Sun., October 13, to benefit The Beyond the Rainbow Fund at Exeter Hospital.

The 3.5 Mile Run/Walk begins at 9:00 a.m., and is open to all ages and abilities. The Creepy Crawler Fun Run, starting at 10:30 a.m., offers a short non-competitive run for children ages 10 and under. Both races start and finish at the Exeter Hospital campus. The cost for the Run/Walk is $20.00 (pre-registered)/$25.00 (day of event). The Fun Run is $5.00 (pre-registered)/$8.00 (day of event). Entrants can register online through October 10th at active.com or visit exeterhospital.com/trickortreattrot to download a registration form. Event day registration is also available from 7:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. for the Run/Walk, and until 10:00 a.m. for the Fun Run. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged as the 3.5 Mile Run/Walk is limited to 350 participants, and the first 250 registrants receive a free t-shirt. Cash and check only are accepted on the day of the event.

This family community event includes prizes donated by local businesses to be awarded to First Place Trot Division winners in the following age groups: 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60+. The awards ceremony will be held following the Run/Walk, along with post race snacks, face painting and Halloween bags for Fun Run participants. Halloween costumes are encouraged for all participants.

All funds raised by the event will benefit The Beyond the Rainbow Fund which provides financial assistance and support to Exeter Hospital cancer patients in need.

“The Beyond the Rainbow Fund directly impacts the lives of many Exeter Hospital oncology patients who are facing one of their most difficult challenges in life,” said Debra Vasapolli, Director of Community Relations and Development. “This fund truly makes a difference and provides hope to many within our local community. We are so appreciative of all of the generosity and support this fund has received over the years. “

  • Citizen of the Year

    The Atkinson Lions Club is pleased to announce that Martin (Marty) Feuer, pictured, has been chosen as the Atkinson Citizen of the Year for 2014. Marty has been an active member of the community since 1951 having been a firefighter for many years and served on the Timberlane School Board. He was the former owner of Feuer Lumber Company, and has passed the torch (and the business) to his son John Feuer. Marty is a U.S. Army Air Force veteran serving as a Glider Pilot and was shot down September 19, 1944 over Rethy, Belgium, and fought in the Normandy invasion. He has been married to his wife Eleanor, for more than 66 years and will celebrate his 93rd birthday on May 3. Please join the Feuer family and the Atkinson Lions to celebrate on Sun., May 4, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Atkinson Congregational Church.

She is survived by brother, Donald Quiggins of Georgia; sisters, Geneva (Phelps) Stanley of Kentucky, and Frances (Phelps) Bratcher of Tennessee who had just visited Jo Ann in September of 2013.
