EXETER —The Alzheimer's Cafe is intended to be a social setting for people with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. People living with Alzheimer's disease are welcomed during the Cafe open time, along with their family members and caregivers, to gather in a supportive, non-clinical setting to chat, relax and socialize. People often find themselves feeling depressed and self-conscious after being diagnosed, and the people in their support network may also feel in need of support. Dropping in for a cup of coffee or refreshment and simply visiting with others in a risk-free, judgment-free environment may present someone dealing with Alzheimer's with an opportunity to get out of the house and have a welcomed change of routine.
The Alzheimer's Cafe will be open on the second and fourth Tuesdays each month, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Exeter Senior Center, 30 Court Street in Exeter. There is no charge and no reservations are needed.
The Cafe is managed by volunteers from the Exeter Area Chamber of Commerce, Senior Programs Group.
