---- — EXETER —Reverend Steve Magee will deliver a sermon from Acts 24:1-23 on Sun., June 30 at Exeter Presbyterian Church, 73 Winter Street in Exeter.
In the beginning of Acts 24 Paul is having his hearing with the governor, Felix. Paul’s accusers, briefly sum up all of their problems with Paul, only one of which is true. They claim Paul incites riots and profaned the temple and that he is a ‘ringleader’ of a sect of Jews. Paul, in his own defense, states that these accusations are blatantly false and cannot be proven except that he is a leader of ‘the Way,’ one of the early names of the Christians. He continues by realigning the conversation to the real issue - not matters of Jewish law as the high priest and company pretend, but rather Paul’s belief in Jesus and the resurrection.
All are welcome to attend on Sunday to hear more about the Christian hope in the resurrection. Sunday school for all ages begins at 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning worship begins at 10:30 a.m. with an evening worship service beginning at 5:00 p.m., including a discussion of the sermon from morning worship.
