Home and Garden Tour

ATKINSON – Support the Friends of Kimball Library and enjoy a beautiful Home and Private Garden Tour at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Lewis on Sat., August 2, from 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. at 95 Main Street in Atkinson. The rain date is Sun., August 3.

The home is composed of three separate structures. The original home, built in 1645, was moved from Haverhill, MA to Atkinson about 1766. An addition was added to the home in 1768. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis fully restored and added a further addition in 2000 where they now live but is within keeping of the old structure.

Lake Street Nurseries, Salem and local horticulturists will answer plant-related questions. Gardens include indigenous plants of NH, an extended climate garden with exotic plants, patio gardens, an organic vegetable and fruit garden as well as a kitchen/herb garden.

A chef will demonstrate hearth and beehive oven cooking. Musicians will be performing throughout the day and Jacqueline Cunningham, an Atkinson resident, will be painting in the gardens. Admission is $10.00 with all proceeds going to the Friends of Kimball Library, Atkinson. Light refreshments are included.

For tickets contact Valerie Little, 603-362-8703, Dorothy Kantola, 306-362-5983 or Kimball Library, 603-362-5234.
