NEWTON JUNCTION – Trinity Church and New Creation Healing Center are co-sponsoring a service of Christian Healing Sun., July 6 at 2:00 p.m. to be held at Newton Junction Baptist Church, 18 West Main Street, Newton Junction. Turn onto Newton Junction Road from Route 125 and proceed 1.3 miles ahead.
Many people unfamiliar with the long heritage of healing services in the church and somewhat familiar with more flamboyant “faith healers” raise three objections:
First, some people ask, “is this scientific?” In the past thirty years there have been numerous articles in scientific medical journals demonstrating that prayer to Jesus does sometimes bring healing of physical and emotional difficulties. Leading the prayer team for this service is Dr. Mary Pearson, a family practice physician.
Second, some people ask, “is this not cultic or weird?” The healing ministry, though neglected for some time, has been making a come back in the church for several decades. Churches of many denominations now regularly offer services of healing. The leader of this service, the Rev. Canon Mark A. Pearson, earned his doctorate, in the subject of Christian healing ministry, at prestigious Boston University.
Third, some people ask, “Will I be forced to do anything embarrassing?” The answer is no. Come join in the worship to the degree you’re comfortable with. Present yourself for prayer or not as you wish. Some people come once or twice, sit in the back, and observe before they decide it’s safe to participate more fully.
A team of people from several area churches will assist and offer prayer and anointing to those wishing to be prayed with. Future services will be on first Sundays of the month August 3, September 7, and October 5. For further information please call (603) 382-0273 or (603) 887-2985.
