STRATHAM – The Stratham Historical Society is pleased to announce that The Winfield L. Foote Award for Academic Excellence has been presented this year to three 2008 applicants. This year’s recipients of the awards for graduating high school seniors are: Miss Briana Prager, a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School, who will be attending Harvard University, Mr. Tyler Hazekamp, who will be attending Virginia Tech, and Mr. Mark Loh who will be attending Carnegie Mellon University. Both Hazekamp and Loh are graduates of Exeter High School. These three outstanding students are the recipients of the $1,000 awards for 2008. Congratulations to Briana, Tyler and Mark and our very best wishes for your continued success.
This is the third year for these awards, which were made possible by the generosity of the late Mr. Winfield L. Foote, a long-time resident of Stratham and a friend and supporter of the Stratham Historical Society.
Two or more $1,000 awards will be offered each year to deserving applicants who meet the criteria set forth by the Society. Watch for announcements and/or check with guidance departments to obtain applications, which will be available in February 2009 for rising high school seniors. Information will also be available at the Stratham Historical Society link on the Wiggin Memorial Library website: www.WigginML.org In addition, generous awards will be offered to college/university rising juniors and seniors who qualify. Applications for the college level awards will be available in September.
