SANDOWN – The first annual Sandown Field of Dreams Golf Tournament sponsored by GMAC will be held on Fri., Sept. 5, at the Apple Hill Golf Club in East Kingston. Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m., with the tournament beginning at 7:30 a.m. The entry fee is $110.00 per person and includes 18 holes of golf, golf cart, player gifts and chicken barbecue luncheon.
One lucky golfer may hit a hole-in-one and win a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu, made possible by Banks Chevrolet. There will be a hole-in-one contest sponsored by Verizon Wireless with a cash prize of $250.00. Other contests include Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive. There will be raffle items also.
All proceeds from the tournament will go to the Sandown Field of Dreams. This committee is raising money to build a Babe Ruth Field in Sandown. The field will benefit kids from ages 13 through 18.
Heather David, committee chairperson hopes that this tournament will be the start of an annual tradition. Baseball brings the community together. That is why this field needs to be built and this tournament will help achieve that goal.
