NPB Requests Old Photos

NEWTON – Newton residents, please send the NPB your historic photographs! The Newton Planning Board has been awarded a grant for Design Assistance from Plan NH, The Foundation for Shaping the Built Environment. Town officials, business owners, and residents will work together to identify appropriate locations and uses for mixed-use zones within the town. Their goal is to provide opportunities for services and employment while preserving Newton’s valuable natural and historical resources.

As part of the Design Assistance program, Plan NH will review maps and photos of the town’s historic village centers, and the Planning Board is in the process of gathering that information. If you have historic photos of Newton that you would like to share, they’d love to hear from you. Of particular interest are photos of the town’s historic village centers – Newton Center, Newton Junction, Lower Junction, Lower Village, Sargeants Village, Copper Village, Rowes Corner, Carterville, and Currierville – but other photos will also be of value to this project.

Please send or e-mail scanned copies of your photos by July 31st to: Newton Planning Board, P.O. Box 344, Newton, NH 03858 or NewtonPlanningNH@comcast.net. Please include your name, phone number and address with the photos. If you are unable to scan your own photos, please contact the Planning Board office at 603-382-3419 extension 15. A prize will be awarded to the first person to submit a photo!

For more information about Plan NH or to get involved with the design process, please contact the Planning Board office.
