Haz Waste Day

PLAISTOW – Residents of Plaistow, Atkinson, Danville, Hampstead and Kingston can bring their hazardous waste to the Plaistow Municipal Household Hazardous Waste Program on Sat., May 10, from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon at the Plaistow Highway Department (Wilder Drive/Old County Road), Plaistow. The Town of Plaistow sponsors this program in conjunction with the above listed towns.

They will recycle items or dispose of them in an environmentally safe manner. Proof of residency is required. Because of safety concerns at the collection, please remain in your cars and do not bring children or pets.

Common household products like lawn and garden pesticides, automotive fluids, leftover paints and other potentially harmful chemicals can pose a significant threat to the environment if not disposed of properly.

Items allowed for disposal include old gasoline, gas/oil mixture, brake fluid, transmission fluid, oils/cleaners, paints (oil based), paint stripper, varnish, antifreeze, mercury batteries, mercury lamps (fluorescent), mercury thermometers, mercury thermostats, batteries, chemical fertilizer, fungicides, herbicides, rat poison, pesticides and pool chemicals. Bring products that say: caution, toxic, pesticide, combustible, poison, flammable or danger. Note: there is a 10 gallon max per home.

You cannot bring radioactives, explosives, biological, infectious, fire extinguisher, medical waste, cylinders (propane), commercial wastes, ammunition or latex paint. Please call your local town hall for more information.
