EXETER – The Exeter Area Chamber of Commerce has announced its winners in four categories at their annual Business of the Year Luncheon. The event, which took place on March 6, at the Galley Hatch Conference Center in Hampton, had a keynote address from Mel Allen, editor for Yankee Magazine.
The recipients were:
Manufacturing/Technology — FPL Energy Seabrook Station. Seabrook Station has become recognized as one of the best run nuclear power plants in the country, if not the world. This extraordinary transformation from a target in the early 1970s to a very successful industrial business is a testament to the spirit of the Seabrook team, a team that stuck together with unity and purpose in the face of major adversity. Most importantly, Seabrook Station, now called FPL Energy Seabrook Station, has proven itself to be a compassionate and caring neighbor giving back to the community it serves.
Business Services — Jordan Signature Heating While this company is a young operation, it has seen tremendous response and growth in the time they have been in business. One of the reasons for their success is that the owners have spent countless hours at both committing to improve their business, and more importantly, committing to improve our community.
Their dedication is evident by their deeds: they have donated their time and resources to the Chamber Children’s Fund, the Exeter Area Fall Festival, Exeter Holiday parade and making Strides Against Breast Cancer to name a few.
Retail — Buxton Oil Company. Buxton Oil Company is a retail oil company that has a unique twist; it is owned solely by a woman. Donna Buxton is one of the few women that owns and operates a retail oil company in the Northeast Region. If this makes her a minority you wouldn’t know it by hearing her talk about the business that she helped her father create and grow into one of the fastest growing retail oil company’s in New Hampshire. Buxton Oil Company has been providing families with their oil needs for over 25 years now and each employee takes pride in the excellent service they provide and of course, the competitive prices that they post.
Financial Services — Citizens Bank. Customers, colleagues, and community. These are the underpinnings of the Citizens Bank credo, which define the corporate culture of Citizens Bank and the way they do business. Citizens’ has a long standing commitment to civic and community involvement that extends through the Granite State and includes a vast array of activities that ensure that New Hampshire is a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
Their dedication to business excellence and commitment to the Exeter Area Community lead them to receive the 2007 Exeter Area Chamber Business of the Year Award.
