EAST KINGSTON – The Friends of the East Kingston Public Library are pleased to present the following programs, free of charge and open to the public.

Wildlife Encounters - Live-Animal Show: The W.I.L.D. Center and Zoological Park of New England will present “The X-7 Encounter” on Mon., October 8, 2:00 p.m. The program includes animals such as Isis the African serval cat or Conan the bobcat, an arctic fox, an African crested porcupine, a Bennett’s wallaby, a Moluccan cockatoo, a ring-tailed lemur or a giant Sulcata tortoise. Specific animals for this program may vary. Don’t miss this great opportunity to meet seven of the largest, most impressive and exotic species of animal ambassadors from the WILD Center!

Woodworking with Steve Carey. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet Steve Carey and experience his unique form artistic expression on Tues., October 9, at 6:30 p.m. Carey is a lathe operator who makes household products out of high-quality woods, turning them on a lathe that was passed down to him from his grandfather. His Hooksett workshop is a constant source of production and what may start as a few long sticks of wood can turn into a chess board, a vase, a clock or a bowl. In many of his pieces, he joins different types of wood together to get different colors into his work. Some pieces have been put together with about 1,300 segments of wood. “It’s unique and something you won’t see elsewhere - no one else will have anything like it.”

East Kingston Public Library is located at 47 Maplevale Road, East Kingston. For additional information, call 642-8333 or visit www.eastkingstonlibrary.org/Library/Events.aspx.
