---- — HAMPSTEAD - The Hampstead Public Library is hosting a free workshop designed for high school seniors, “The Write Stuff: College Essays,” on Mon., October 7, at 6:00 p.m. Attendees will get tips on developing the written portion of college applications, including essays, college resume and letters of recommendation. Those who have a college essay in progress should bring it to the workshop. One-to-one assistance will be given if time allows. Students do not need to be a Hampstead resident to attend. HEALTHCARE ACT INFO SESSION - On Thurs., October 10 at 6:30 p.m., the Library hosts a free educational program about the Affordable Care Act. While the new Marketplace has the prospect of quality, affordable healthcare, you may have questions such as: Who will be eligible for premium credits and cost sharing subsidies? Will we have Medicaid Expansion in NH and what will be the impact? Who will assist consumers in purchasing on-line? There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion. The presenter is Karen Kelly, Community Organizer for Health Care from the non-profit group NH Citizens Alliance.
PRACTICE S.A.T. - The Library will host a free mock S.A.T. for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors on Sat., October 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This is a great way to practice, get tips, and improve performance on the actual SAT. Advance registration is required. You do not have to be a Hampstead resident to attend. Call the library at 329-6411 or email ProgramsHPL@gmail.com to sign-up.
FICTION WRITERS GROUP - The Fiction Writers’ Group at the Hampstead Public Library is open to new members. Whether you are a beginner or long-time writer, or maybe you have just begun thinking about writing fiction, the group will welcome you. They usually meet on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month at 9:15 a.m. Many aspects of fiction writing are discussed including character, plot, dialog, and point-of-view. Email HampFicWriters@comcast.net for further information. The next meetings are October 12 and 26. You do not have to be a resident of Hampstead to join the group.
