New Director at PPL

PLAISTOW — The Plaistow Public Library would like to extend a warm welcome to our new director, Cab Vinton.

Cab has been the director at Sanbornton Public Library for the past eight years; in the past he has been a reference librarian at Plymouth State University and Frostburg State University. He possesses a Masters in Library Science from San Jose State University and a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard. During Cab’s time in Sanbornton the library added a beautiful new addition in 2006, was the first to sign up for an open source integrated library system in New Hampshire, and has seen increases of 17% in visits and 28% in checkouts over the past three years. Library patrons will appreciate Cab’s familiarity with Koha, the open source system Plaistow and the Southern New Hampshire Library Cooperative implemented last year. He brings experience with fundraising both from local groups and families and through applying for grants. He has also exemplified leadership as current chair of Scrooge & Marley, the Lakes Region’s twenty-four member library cooperative; as vice-chair of the Lakes Region Reads committee; and designed and implemented our state’s first informal mentoring network for librarians, NH Specialists’ Network. Cab’s diverse and proven talents are an exciting new addition for our library, Plaistow, and the surrounding community.

The library’s ongoing cribbage and bridge matches meet on Wednesdays at 2:00 p.m. Come and play a game with friends, enjoy a cup of coffee and light refreshments. Children may enjoy Friday Afternoon Legos and Wii starting at 1 p.m.: build with our large LEGO collection, or challenge yourself to a game of Wii. No registration required.
