Her approach to teaching is to introduce new concepts, new media, and to expose the imaginative and creative processes to her students.
Ellen Whitman is a professional artist who has attained national recognition for her portraits of individuals and oil paintings of wildlife. She enjoys the mediums of oil, charcoal and clay. In a subtle, yet uniquely vibrant style, Ellen’s paintings are a study of light, shadows, life, and sensitivity within and surrounding her forms. Many of her paintings and sculptures are dedicated to the celebration of young life in the human and animal kingdoms.
In 1977, Ellen established the Barn Art Studio to introduce the creative arts to adults and children. Offering classes in drawing, oil painting, watercolors and sculpture, the Barn Art Studio is a vibrant teaching Studio-Gallery grounding children and adults in the fundamentals of art.
