Art Show at EPL

EXETER — A “Mentor, Mentee” art show! Local professional artist and art instructor, Ellen Whitman will exhibit her artwork at the Exeter Public Library during the months of September and October in the adult services section of the library. Her students, from the Barn Art Studio in Exeter, will also exhibit their artwork during the same months in the children’s room. Ellen’s approach to painting is to study light within the form through lumination. Her approach to teaching is to introduce new concepts, new media, and to expose the imaginative and creative processes to her students.

Ellen Whitman is a professional artist who has attained national recognition for her portraits of individuals and oil paintings of wildlife. She enjoys the mediums of oil, charcoal and clay. In a subtle, yet uniquely vibrant style, Ellen’s paintings are a study of light, shadows, life, and sensitivity within and surrounding her forms. Many of her paintings and sculptures are dedicated to the celebration of young life in the human and animal kingdoms.

In 1977, Ellen established the Barn Art Studio to introduce the creative arts to adults and children. Offering classes in drawing, oil painting, watercolors and sculpture, the Barn Art Studio is a vibrant teaching Studio-Gallery grounding children and adults in the fundamentals of art. Ellen creates a teaching curriculum that supports the unique goals of each student for them to achieve their personal, educational and professional goals.

Come enjoy the exhibits of this group of inspired artists - instructor and students. The Exeter Public Library is located in scenic downtown Exeter at 4 Chestnut Street. For additional information call the library at 772-3101.
