NEWTON — All Winter Reading Programs are underway. Simply sign up and enter the books you read on a reading log. When you reach your goal, you may choose a prize book. All program members will be entered into a Weekly Prize Drawing and the Grand Prize Drawing on Mon., March 4 when we will celebrate the finale with a Bingo For Books night at 6:30 p.m. Remember-”Snuggle Up With A Good Book”. Check our list of Weekly Winners.

For our Teen, Tween and Adult readers can Snuggle Up with that Good Book and then register, read, and enter a weekly prize lottery. This is a great way to break those winter doldrums.

Valentine Crafts will be offered on Sat., February 9 at 11:00 a.m. On Mon., February 11 at 6:30 p.m., school age children can make a Pierced Valentine Picture Frame. Drop in anytime to make a Valentine Card with stickers, stamps and glitter.

Vacation Movies continue. For film titles, call the library, 382-4691.

Storyhour is held every Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., with Valentine and penguin stories, songs, and crafts, and with plenty of time for afternoon kindergarten children to get to school. Bring a snack to share for Storyhour Valentine Party on Tues., February 14 at 10:00 a.m.

Teens and tweens will have a Game Night with Wii and board games on Wed., February 13 and 27, at 6:00 p.m.

During school vacation, card and board games, Legos and puzzles will be available for “Fun With A Friend” any day and time a scheduled program is not being held.

Watch for our Read Across America Week celebrating Dr. Seuss’ Birthday (March 4-9) with special Storytimes and lots of Where It’s Hat! activities will be going on.

The Library will be closed Mon., February 18 for the holiday.

  • Catherine F. "Kitty" (Clements) Brown, 66

    Ft. Gibson, OK — Catherine F. "Kitty" (Clements) Brown passed away February 17, 2013, at her home in Ft. Gibson, Okla., after a brave battle with cancer. Kitty was born in Brentwood, N.H., on April 21, 1946, to the late Chester H. Clements and Catherine F. (Morse) Clements. She was raised in Kingston, N.H., and graduated from Sanborn Seminary. She lived for many years on Plum Island, Mass. While living on Plum Island, she was a columnist and photographer for The Daily News of Newburyport, as well as a school bus driver.

  • Ted "Teddy" Bolduc

    Fremont, N.H. — Ted “Teddy” Burleigh Bolduc, was born the youngest son of Phyllis and Joseph Bolduc Sr., on May 22, 1962. He died suddenly April 8, 2013, after a brief illness. Ted lived for most of his life in Fremont and Raymond. He was well known for his skills with heavy equipment and worked all his life in construction and excavation in the Fremont and Epping area. In addition to his work, he loved ice hockey, baseball, hunting, country music, and animals, especially his dog Finlay. He was very proud of, and also loved by, his very large family.
