KINGSTON — Drop in on February 20 between 4:00-6:00 p.m., to sample literature inspired food created by the staff and patrons during our Cook Off. Copies of recipes and their inspirational literature will be on display all week.

All entries must be Breakfast, inspired by or taken from literature (fiction or non-fiction). Participants need to sign up the front desk by February 8, with the tile of their inspiration book. All participants will need to drop of their recipe and entry (cut or made into sample sizes) on Wed., February 20 by 3:00 p.m.

Cheryl Rossman, certified yoga instructor from Let’s Get Movin! Yoga and Nutrition, will share with us ways to gently stretch and strengthen our core in an easy, low impact class for seniors and those with mobility issues. No need to get on the floor the entire class takes place from your chair! Class meets Thurs., February 14 and 28, from 10:00-10:45 a.m. There is a $5.00 suggested donation.

The Reach for the Stars program, through Usborne books, is a pledge-based reading incentive program that encourages the habit of daily reading and gets children excited about literacy. For ten days (February 18-27), children will read for thirty minutes each day (non-readers,15), and collect pledges for the minutes they read. Fifty-percent of pledges raised stay with the child in the form of books from the Usborne catalog. The other fifty-percent goes to the Children’s Room to help purchase books and to help plan an awesome Summer Reading Program. Children that receive ten pledges of $10.00 also receive a special Kid-Kit for free! Special prizes will be awarded for most pledges, reading over 1000 minutes, and most minutes read! Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! Children ages 7+ are invited to join Miss Sue in the library’s kitchen on Fri., February 8 at 4:00 p.m. to bake some delicious cookies for your special valentine!

The New Hampshire ASPCA will present Responsible Pet Ownership Fri., February 15 at 2:00 p.m. Join us for a presentation by Courtney Brooks with her animal friend about what it means to be a good pet owner. If you can, bring with you a donation of supplies that the ASPCA needs to continue helping animals in need. A list of needed supplies will be available at the library’s front desk two weeks before the program. All ages are welcome!

Mr. Kasper was employed with Foss Manufacturing Company, LLC in Hampton, N.H. He is survived by his mother, Sally Furrow of Franklin, Maine and father, Curtis Kasper (Sandy) of Erlanger, Ky.; siblings, Terrie Kasper of Franklin, Maine, Andrew Kasper (Teresa) of Dayton, Ohio, Todd Kasper (Chang He) of Dayton, Ohio, and Emily Liu (Norman) of South Lebanon, Ohio. He also leaves behind many loving family members.

Learned Gosselin, 87, recently of Exeter, N.H. and formerly of Kingston, N.H., Amesbury and Salisbury, died Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Genesis Healthcare Exeter Center, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. She was the beloved wife of the late Mr. Shirl W. Learned and the late Raymond E. Gosselin.
