NEWTON —Our Winter Reading Programs are now underway! All age groups are welcome to participate for the chance to win super prizes. For each book read, entrants will be eligible to win books, reading journals, Lindt chocolate, and more! Sign-up sheets are located at both circulation desks. Enjoy a wonderful book and perhaps also win a prize as well! How great is that?

A warm word of gratitude to our Friends of the Library! This hard-working group of library advocates have recently generously donated $2,500.00 for the purpose of renovating the pantry of the Library. The project will replace cabinets and counter for safety and efficiency. The pantry area is used frequently for programming events and for the storage of supplies. Thank you very much to the Friends for their support of this much needed renovation! Their next scheduled meeting is for Tuesday, February 12 at 1:00 p.m. New members are always welcomed!

The Genealogy Club would like to extend appreciation to Mr. Edward Hale of Plaistow for his visit as our guest speaker! Mr. Hale shared fascinating stories and helpful resources to explore the research of ancestral heritage. The Genealogy Club meets monthly and welcomes new members anytime. The next meeting is scheduled for Wed., February 20 at 1:00 p.m. To assist your researching, the library subscribes to ProQuest Ancestry Library Edition databases: http://ancestrylibrary.com. Please contact us for username and password information.

The next Evening Book Group will meet on Mon., January 28 at 6:00 p.m. to discuss, “Faithful Place”, by Tana French. Copies of this fascinating read are located at the front desk and are ready to be checked out.
