---- — HAMPSTEAD — The Fiction Writers’ Group which meets at the Hampstead Public Library is seeking new members. Whether you are a beginner or long-time writer, a professional or hobbyist, or maybe you have just begun to think about writing fiction – the group will welcome you to their gatherings. They meet on the second and fourth Saturday of each month at 9:15 a.m. Many aspects of fiction writing are discussed: character development, plotting narrative technique, dialog, point-of-view, genre, and of course the joy and agony of editing and re-writes. Those interested should feel free to drop by at a meeting, or send an email in advance to HampFicWriters@comcast.net. The next meeting is May 25, and the June meetings are on June 8 and 22. You do not have to be a resident of Hampstead to join the group.
ARTISTS WANTED - Are you a painter or photographer who would like to share your work with the public? If you have a collection of framed pieces suitable for viewers of all ages, then you may want to consider exhibiting your art at the Hampstead Public Library. The library has a fantastic well-lit meeting room for artwork, and exhibitions are booked for two month periods. We are now reserving the display space for 2014. Please email Janet Arden at the library for further details, firstname.lastname@example.org.
STORYBOOK GARDEN IN BLOOM - The Storybook Garden at the Hampstead Public Library is in bloom! Located behind the library, the garden is a cozy fenced in area complete with reading benches. The public is welcome to visit the garden any time and enjoy the lovely blooms. It also makes a wonderful spot for taking photographs. Special thanks and recognition are due to the Hampstead Garden Club for maintaining this wonderful garden as well as the landscaping in front of the library.
BORROW A TELESCOPE - With more frequent warmer and drier nights, it is a great time to get outside and stargaze. The Hampstead Public Library can help you with that! Library cardholders can check out an Orion Starblast telescope. It comes with an instruction manual, Starry Night software and Sky Theater DVD, Constellation Pocket Guide, and headlamp. Check out period is one week. You may confirm availability or reserve the telescope in person at the library, by calling 329-6411, or by placing a hold via the library’s website catalog.
