PLAISTOW —Visit the library during the month of January to see the artwork of the students of local artist Susan Kneeland. The work represents artists age 9 to adult and are from many surrounding towns. The pieces include portraits, still life, and landscapes and are quite nice to see.
The horizontal display cases are hosting the pie plate collection of Mr. Oscar Fortin. The pie plates are an interesting look at many decades of pie plate history.
The library’s ongoing cribbage and bridge matches meet on Wednesdays at 2:00 p.m. Come and play a game with friends. Children may enjoy Friday afternoon LEGOs and Wii starting at 1:00 p.m. Build with our large Lego collection or challenge yourself to a game of Wii. No registration is required.
Slumber Storytimes continue on Thursdays, from 6:00-6:45 p.m. Come in your pajamas and bring your blanket for stories, songs, games, crafts, and fun. Registration is required and this event is for all Plaistow Library cardholders.

The Friends of the Library will meet Mon., January 27 from 6:30–8:00 p.m. Come on by to see what this dynamic group does to help support our library.
January 28 sees the start of our Fun Fiction Book Club for Plaistow patrons in Grades 5-8. This book club runs from January to April. You choose the book and we’ll meet once a month for discussion and activities. The program runs from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Registration is required and is for Plaistow Library cardholders.
Imajine That! (for ages 3-6) is coming to visit the library on Wed., January 29, from 10:00-10:30 am. Registration is required for this activity. Imajine That! will return on February 24.
Sat., February 8 is Crafty Kids from 9:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. Come drop by to do a themed craft with Miss Cara. Registration is required and is for Plaistow Library cardholders. The recommended ages are from 4-12.
Ages 9 and up are invited to make a colorful, fun Friendship Bracelet to keep or give to a friend on Tues., February 11, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Miss Cara will guide you through the fun process of making your own creation. All materials provided. Registration is required and open to Plaistow Library cardholders only.
Book Talk with the Staff will be February 12, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Join Cab, Kelli, Anita, and Raven as they discuss a favorite book or two for five minutes each. Participants are welcome to bring a book or two to share as well! Not sure what to bring? How about your favorite reads from 2013? Or, perhaps a book that made an impact on your life?
Card Making with Colleen Ferranto will be February 20, from 6:30-9:00 p.m. The demonstration will begin promptly at 6:30 and the class is limited to adults only. You will make eight cards; materials fee is $15.00. Please bring your own adhesive and scissors.
January is National Soup Month. Come by the library to check out cookbooks for some new soup recipes to try out. Our cookbook collection includes slow-cooker/crock pot, vegetarian, gluten free, and many other options.
Fun Trivia: Chinese New Year is January 31. According to weather.com Pinkham Notch, near Mount Washington, recorded 13 feet, 8 inches of snow cover on February 27, 1969.
