---- — HAMPSTEAD - Get in the spirit of the season with a free holiday movie at the Hampstead Public Library on Tues., December 17, at 6:30 p.m. Watch Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby as they sing and dance their way through the year in this film that features 13 songs by composer Irving Berlin. Crosby plays a song and dance man who leaves showbiz to run a New England inn which is open only on holidays. Astaire is his former partner and rival in love with the same woman. Highlights include Astaire’s 4th of July firecracker dance and Crosby singing “White Christmas.”

BOOK DISCUSSION - On December 19 at 1:00 p.m., the Hampstead Public Library’s Third Thursday Book Group will discuss “Call Me Amy” by Marcia Strykowski. Participants will have the added pleasure of the author joining the discussion. The novel is about a teenage girl who helps rescue an injured seal pup. In the process, she forms an unlikely alliance with a mysterious boy and a peculiar older woman. Copies of “Call Me Amy” are available at the library’s front desk. Newcomers are welcome to join the discussion with Marcia and the book group.
