---- — NEWTON —Congratulations to our many summer readers who participated in programs for all ages. There were lots of books read, programs attended, and prizes that were won. Hope everyone had a great time and enjoyed this year’s events and workshops! A warm word of gratitude to our Children’s Librarian, Mrs. Mears, along with library staff members for another outstanding schedule of programming. Acknowledgement is also noted to local business sponsors who have supported the library’s literary goals through donations that were given as prizes.
We still have seats available for a Kindle Workshop will be held on Wed., August 21 at 2:00 p.m. Jillian will share helpful hints and recommendations that will maximize usage and efficiency of your Kindle devices. Please bring along your Kindle and questions!
A reminder that Book Review Circle will meet on Wed., August 21 at 10:30 a.m. This group shares their latest read along with great company and a morning snack. New members are always welcome to attend.
Evening Book Group will meet on Mon., August 26 at 6:00 p.m. Discussion will be held on the book title, “The Grass of August”, by Anna Jean Mayhew. Copies are located at the front circulation desk for those who would like to attend the meeting, or as an independent read.
Don’t miss out on our upcoming Ragtime Piano Concert that will be performed by Ms. Deborrah Wyndham of Michigan! Deborrah is a professional pianist/composer who will play a variety of ragtime and jazz music on Mon., September 16 at 6:30 p.m. She will be in the New England area for a short period of time before returning back to Michigan. This concert is free and open to the public, however please contact the Library at 382-4691, or stop in to sign up to reserve your seat. Some additional programs that are in the planning process are, “Cooking with Chef Joy”, and “Library Card Sign-Up Night”. Additional details will be available soon.
