---- — HAMPSTEAD —It’s that time of year again when the Hollyhock Thrift Shop hosts a half-price clearance sale of all their summer stock. If you need a couple of items for the end of the season or you want to be prepared for next summer, this is your chance to stock up at prices so low you won’t believe them. The sale will take place Sat., August 24, Tues., August 27 and Sat., August 31. The Thrift Shop is located in the basement of the Hampstead Public Library. Its hours are Tuesdays, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The Shop will be closed for restocking from September 3-14. It will re-open with fall and winter clothing on Tues., September 17.
Please – no more donations of summer wear now. All the summer things must go. Donations of Fall and Winter clothing may be brought to the library after Labor Day. The Thrift Shop offers good quality, clean, wearable clothing for men, women and children as well some jewelry, shoes, hats, scarves, etc. Space is very limited so the Shop cannot use knick-knacks, furniture, cookware, etc. It specializes in clothing and accessories only. Plan some back-to-school shopping once it re-opens on September 17.
Remember that the library’s annual book sale will be taking place during this same time period so plan to stock up on reading material for the winter while you’re in the building.
Preparations for the November 15 Friends of the Library Auction are continuing. The list of donations is growing but there’s still time for your business to add to the list. Some of the items already donated include a custom made graphite fishing rod, auto detailing, a hand-knit throw, a certificate for lunch from Amphora, a set of cookbooks, and an as yet unnamed donation from the Red Sox. As always, there will be lots of art created by local artists and much, much more. Keep checking the list of donations in the Friends section of the library’s website.
The Granite Rose is the location of this year’s Auction. Tickets will be on sale after Labor Day at the library’s front desk for $35.00. The ticket admits you to the action and also to a full sit-down family style dinner of roast turkey with all the fixings. There will be raffles and the popular balloon pop, bigger and better than ever, the silent auction and live bidding. A photo booth and lounge area are additions this year as well.
Volunteers are still needed to assist with many aspects of this “Event of the Year”. The Friends are seeking people to solicit and pick up donations, people to wrap gifts and create baskets that will be auctioned off, and people to help set up and clean at the Granite Rose.
