---- — EPPING — The library’s Spring Tea Party for children will be this Sat., May 18, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Young ladies and gentlemen of Epping and neighboring towns are invited to this special day of dress-up, old fashioned crafts and games, and yummy treats. With seating for ten at a time, guests will take turns at the table until everyone has had the chance to sip, and games and crafts will be available for those . Please call Miss Tracie at 679-5944 to RSVP so there will be enough tea and cucumber sandwiches for all.
Monday Munch and Movie on May 20 will feature “The Little Foxes” (1941), a superb Lillian Hellman drama about greed and deceit in a southern family. Stars Bette Davis, Herbert Marshall, Teresa Wright, Carl Benton Reid and Dan Duryea. The movie begins at 12:30 p.m. Bring a lunch!
Lizzi Borden took an axe, or did she? On Thurs., May 23, Dr. Annette Holba of Plymouth State University will illuminate the circumstances of the famous double homicide that took place in Fall River, MA back in 1892. This program is funded with a grant from the New Hampshire Humanities Council and begins at 7:00 p.m.
The annual Toy Sale to benefit the library’s summer reading program is scheduled for Sat., June 22 this year. Donations of clean, gently used toys, games and sports equipment can be dropped off at the library during operating hours. In the case of larger items, please call the children’s room to make arrangements. Sale items will be stored off-site until June 21. Also needed are volunteers who are willing to help clean, sort and price toys and/or help on Set-up Day, Fri., June 21 and Sale Day. Please call 679-5944 if you would like to help out.
On Sat., June 8 the library will host its first Writer’s Conference, an opportunity to meet other writers in the area and to share work samples, contact information and ideas about publishing. From 10:30 to 12:30 there will be gatherings for Children /YA and Poetry; from 1:00 to 3:00, Fiction and Non-Fiction. This conference is for adults only. Admission is free and light refreshments will be provided.
