---- — HAMPSTEAD — Student art from the Hampstead Middle School is now on display in the second floor meeting room at the Hampstead Public Library. Come see the colorful and imaginative work of the students. They have used different mediums and materials. There are also 3-dimensional pieces in the display cases on the first and second floor of the library. Look for weaving, clay and fabric art. This exhibit will be at the library through June 19.
On Tues., May 21 at 7:00 p.m., the Hampstead Public Library will have a free showing of the recent movie starring Matt Damon as a natural gas company salesman. He experiences life-changing events after arriving in a small town, where his corporation wants to tap into the gas resources. What seems like an easy job becomes complicated by the objection of a respected local schoolteacher and support of a grassroots campaign led by an environmental activist who objects to the fracking. For further information, call the library at 603-329-6411.
The Hampstead Public Library Book Group will discuss “Night Circus” by Erin Morgenstern on Thurs., June 20 at 1:00 p.m. This spellbinding novel follows the tale of Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood for the purpose of a magical battle which becomes the Night Circus. Unbeknownst to the young magicians, this duel is a game in which only one can be left standing. The contest must play out, and the fates of everyone involved, from the cast of extraordinary circus performers to the patrons, hang in the balance. Written in rich prose this novel is a feast for the senses. Copies of the book are available at the library’s front desk. Newcomers are always welcome to the discussion.
