Sandown Library News

SANDOWN - To encourage residents to return items, May is designated as “Fine Forgiveness” month at the library. All overdue materials returned during May will have up to $15.00 in fines removed from the borrower’s account.

May is also the time that the Library collects food for the Sandown Food Pantry. Patrons are encouraged - but not obligated! - to “pay” their overdue fines by bringing in non-perishable food to the library. The food will be collected and given to the Food Pantry. Items needed are: snacks for children, juices boxes, cookies, small canned hams, tuna, or chicken, coffee, cereal, laundry soap, toilet paper (single or 4 packs), tissues, shampoo, and shaving cream.

New To Medicare - If you are New to Medicare, or will be in the next few months, this is the workshop for you! The workshop, which will be held on Mon., May 6, at 5:30 p.m., will review the basics of Medicare Part A and Part B, Medicare Prescription Drug Plans, Medicare Supplemental Plans, Medicare Advantage and Preventing Medicare Fraud and Abuse. Due to the limited space a registration is required online or by calling the library at 887-3428. Pizza will be provided.

Cribbage & Cards - Drop in on Tues., May 7, at 6:30 p.m., for a fun time and learn how to play cribbage, whist, 45’s or gin rummy. Brush up on your skills or learn a new game. All abilities are welcome! The first and third Tuesdays are for adults. The second and fourth Tuesdays are for all ages.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Tues., May 2, the book group will discuss “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” by Rebecca Skloot. Copies of the book are available for everyone at the library.
