---- — PLAISTOW — The Plaistow Library will be closed for Thanksgiving on November 22 and 23. We will be open 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Sat., November 24.
During the month of November, the library is a drop-off for Rockingham Community Action and Plaistow Exchange Club. Please bring non-perishable food items or toiletries.
The Friends of the Library’s annual Vendor Fair will be held Sat., November 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Companies such as Tupperware, Pampered Chef, Avon, Lia Sophia, and Flags on the Go along with about ten others will be stationed in the library selling their wares. The Friends of the Library at Plaistow (FLAP!) are looking for volunteers to help that day as well as to join the group and assist with the Friends’ fundraising efforts. Visit the Friends tab on our website for more information.
The library’s annual Scholastic Book Fair also begins November 17 in the children’s area, during the Vendor Fair. Books for kids to buy will be displayed face-front and grouped by age or grade-level, so it’s easy to find characters and subjects they love. The Scholastic Book Fair will continue into the next week, November 19, 20 and 21.
Sign up to attend the library’s “Local Atmosphere” Author Panel on Mon., November 19 at 6:30 p.m., featuring Josh Judge, WMUR meteorologist and author of Extreme New England weather, Berry & Croft co-authors of “See You ‘Round the Square” (and co-hosts of Plaistow Access show Scrybes), and Renee Mallett, author of several books including “Manchester Ghosts”, “Strange NH”, and “Ghosts of Portsmouth, NH”. Panelists will speak about how “local atmosphere” affects their books, followed by audience Q & A and book signings. This is our third and final Local Author Night of the fall. Visit our website for more information and to sign up.
“Stories with Savannah” is Mon., November 19 for ages 7 and up. This opportunity to practice reading skills is scheduled the third Monday each month from 4:00–5:00 p.m. Read privately with this very special Black Labrador Retriever Therapy Dog and her handler. Choose your own books, relax, and cuddle with Savannah and practice your reading skills! Registration is required; four (4) fifteen-minute time slots are available once per month.
For the month of November, library volunteer Sharon Neiman has arranged a display of quilts of her own handiwork on our walls and display cases. View images on Facebook and our website, and come in person for a closer look.
