---- — EPPING — Roberta Gibson Prevear will speak to the Epping Historical Society on Thurs., September 19 at 7:00 p.m. She will discuss the book she co-edited with Ann Fox Channdonet titled “Write Quick”: War and a Woman’s Life in Letters, 1835-1867, about one woman’s life around the time of the Civil War. The book focuses on “..the selected correspondence of three New England figures during the American Civil War (Andrew Jackson Bean [1828-1919] of Maine, his sister Eliza Howard Bean Foster [1835-1867], and her husband Henry Charles Foster [1834-1864] of Vermont and Massachusetts)” and interprets these writings “..in the context of their time and culture” and includes excerpts from Eliza Foster’s wartime diary.
As is the Society’s custom, refreshments and conversation will follow the program. This program is free and open to the public. The Epping Historical Society is located at 11 Water Street in downtown Epping. For additional information about this program, call 679-2944.
