PLAISTOW — Join us one Saturday a month starting September 14 for “Crafty Kids,” and do a themed craft. Supplies are provided; all ages welcome. Please register online in advance.

Savannah’s back! Cuddle up and read with this very special Black Labrador Retriever Therapy Dog ‘Savannah’ and her handler. Choose your own books, relax with Savannah and practice your reading skills. For ages 6 and up. Stories with Savannah is available third Monday each month in four fifteen (15) minute time slots from 4:00-5:00 p.m. Please register in advance.

The “Fun Fiction” book club for grades 4-6 meets one Tuesday per month at 6:00 p.m. The first book selection is “The Danger Box” by Blue Balliett. Pick up your copy at the library to read in time to discuss on September 17. Register online or at the library when you pick up the book.

Regular story times are back: age appropriate rhymes, music, wordplay and stories with occasional crafts are offered several times a week to accommodate various age groups. Baby lap sit meets for ages 0-2 on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. Toddler Time meets for ages 3-5 on Fridays at 10:00 a.m. Join us for “Slumber Storytime” for ages 3-5 on September 19 at 6:00 p.m. Feel free to attend in your PJs and bring a favorite stuffed sleeping buddy!

A Movies from Books program is starting the third Wednesday of the month at 4:00 p.m. Watch a family movie that came from a book, then talk about whether the book or the movie was your favorite. Popcorn and drink provided. All ages welcome. Call the library for movie titles. The first program meets Wed., September 18.

Programs are open to all Plaistow Library card holders. Registration is Required for all programs. You may register online, by phone, or in person. Check our website for details, and drop in and pick up a Youth Calendar of events.

    Meredith, NH — Elwood (Al) Shaw, 93, of Center Harbor, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Forestview Manor in Meredith. He was the beloved husband of the late Greta L. (Sykes) Shaw, to whom he was married for 62 years.

    Sandown, NH — Jo Ann (Phelps) Hughes of Sandown, New Hampshire passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014, surrounded by all of her children at home. She was born in Little Bend Kentucky, to Beatrice (Shepherd) Phelps and John (Cat) Phelps in 1934. Jo Ann was predeceased by brothers, Marcus Phelps, Johnny Phelps, Forrest Phelps and sisters, Juanita Phelps, and Jeanette (Phelps) Vincent. She is survived by brother, Donald Quiggins of Georgia; sisters, Geneva (Phelps) Stanley of Kentucky, and Frances (Phelps) Bratcher of Tennessee who had just visited Jo Ann in September of 2013.
