KINGSTON — Liz Barbour, food educator, shares how to use every inch of a small garden to maximize its beauty and its bounty using herbs as part of an edible landscape. On Tues., September 24, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., you will be introduced to healthy recipes using herb combinations that you can purchase and grow in your own garden (and ones featured in the new educational herb garden here at the Library!). Enjoy a cooking demonstration of two recipes and samples for all to taste. Sign up is required.

Our free six-week Meditation Class will run again this year on Wednesdays, September 18-October 23, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Students will be introduced to the art of centering and mindfulness. Through this, they will develop more positive emotions resulting in a clear sense of well-being. Come join us for this wonderful opportunity to improve the quality of your life. Class size is limited and preference will be given to Kingston residents. Participants are asked to commit to the full series of six classes.

Start a reading tradition with your daughter with a Mother-Daughter Book Club on Tues., September 24 at 6:00 p.m. The group for Girls (grades 4-8) and their Mothers is based on the popular Mother-Daughter Book Club novels by Heather Vogel Fredrick. This first meeting is to decide what to read for the November and December meetings. Miss Sue will book-talk some popular titles, serve cookies, fruit and juice, and choose books for the next meeting. Anyone attending is welcome to bring their own suggestions, but please keep in mind the book must have been published at least six months ago!

Join Wings and Hooves Therapeutic Riding, Inc. and learn all about their therapy horses on Thurs., September 26 at 6:00 p.m. These horse heroes dedicate their lives to helping humans. Learn about Mr. Wise Guy, Lady, Kirkie, Gem, Khlassic Statementt, Loki, Big Doll, BoBo, and SS Lord of the Dance! Check out the equipment these horses use every day, play some games, and learn a little about the benefits of therapeutic riding and horsemanship activities! Recommended for: ages 9 and up. Thursday, Signup is required.

  • Marie Rose (Robidoux) Audy

    LAWRENCE — Marie Rose (Robidoux) Audy, passed away at her home surrounded by her family, after suffering a stroke in April. She was born in Lawrence and was the daughter of the late Rose A. (Betit) and Alfred Robidoux, originally of Quebec, Canada. She was predeceased by her husband of 28 years, Armand Joseph Audy, who passed away on June 28, 1976.

  • Francis M. Lurvey, 76

    Bar Harbor, ME — Francis M. Lurvey passed away Sunday, June 22, in Bar Harbor, Maine, after battling cancer. By his side were his sons, Edwin Lurvey and Steven Lurvey and his niece and husband, Debra and Richard Carey, as well as cousin, Marion McDonald. He was the son of Edwin R Lurvey (Bar Harbor) and Delia Amazeen (Dexter). He is survived by five children, a stepson, and their families. His sons, Edwin and wife April, Steven and wife, Pam, David and his daughter, Meghan, as well as his daughters, Lorraine and Ellen and her husband, Paul DiScipio with daughters, Katherine and Julia, and his stepson, Brian Faulkner and wife, Jody with children, Trevor, Rachel, and Keith. He is also survived by his sister, Sheryl, and many nieces and nephews including Frank Lurvey and Elaine Langer. Francis was predeceased by his twin brother, Frank, as well as his brothers, Edwin and Erwin. He was also predeceased by his longtime companion, Brian and Edwin’s mother, Maureen Faulkner and former wife, Roberta Lurvey Gilmore.

    Epping, NH — Frederick Michael Hopper, of Epping, N.H., passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 15, 2014. Predeceased by his wife, Alice Hopper, he is survived by his longtime girlfriend, Joann Peatfield; daughters, Shay Belair and Jayne Pond; sons-in-law, Adam Belair and James Pond; mother, Arlene Hopper; father and stepmother, Frederick S. and Barbara Hopper; siblings, Susan Hardy, Stephan Hopper, Scott Hopper, and Sherri Chagnon; grandsons, Benjamin Belair, Jonathan Belair and Jackson Pond; and numerous nieces and nephews.
