PLAISTOW - The Plaistow Library will be closed in observation of Veterans Day, on Mon., November 12. We are open on November 10 and will be showing our monthly family film that day instead of November 17. Ask at the library for this month’s movie. Popcorn and drink are provided by the library.

Sign up to attend the library’s “Local Atmosphere” Author Panel on Mon., November 19, at 630 p.m., featuring Josh Judge, WMUR meteorologist and author of Extreme New England weather, Berry & Croft co-authors of “See You ‘Round the Square”, and Renee Mallett, author of several books including “Manchester Ghosts”, “Strange NH”, and “Ghosts of Portsmouth, NH”. Panelists will speak about how “local atmosphere” affects their books, followed by audience Q & A and book signings. This is our third and final Local Author Night of the fall. The library’s annual Vendor Fair will be held Sat., November 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Companies such as Tupperware, Pampered Chef, Avon, Lia Sophia, and Flags on the Go along with about 10 others will be stationed in the library selling their wares. The Friends of the Library at Plaistow (FLAP!) are looking for volunteers to help that day as well as to join the group and assist with the Friends’ fundraising efforts. The library’s annual Scholastic Book Fair will also begin November 17 in the children’s area, during the Vendor Fair. Books for kids to buy will be displayed face-front and grouped by age or grade-level, so it’s easy to find characters and subjects they love. These events are great holiday-shopping opportunities. The Scholastic Book Fair will continue into the next week, November 19, 20and 21.
