HAMPSTEAD —Spring is almost over so it’s time to think about summer and summer clothing. But first the Hollyhock Thrift Shop needs to make space for all the summer items that are waiting to be put out. The end of spring half price sale will take place on June 17, 21, 24 and 28. The shop will then be closed for restocking until it re-opens on Tues., July 8.
These Thrift Shop sales are the best around, anywhere. When you start with really low prices for good quality, clean gently used clothing and cut those prices in half you can’t afford not to come see what’s on offer. Hampstead residents support the Friends of the Hampstead Public Library with their generous donations of gently used high quality clothing for men, women and children and then they benefit both themselves and the Friends by purchasing these outstanding clothing items at excellent prices.
The Hollyhock Thrift Shop has been the primary fund raising vehicle for the Friends of the Library since its inception many years ago. The money raised by the Shop and the other activities of the group have made so many contributions to your public library. Think: Summer Reading Program, Museum passes, AED and staff training in CPR, computers, and so much more contributed by the Friends. And soon there will be an electronic sign to announce library and Friends activities to everyone who passes by. The Hampstead Public Library would not be the exceptional place that it is without extraordinary work of the Friends of the Library.
If you like the library but haven’t yet joined the Friends, maybe it’s time to do so. It’s a real bargain, too, just like the Thrift Shop. Individual membership is only $5.00 a year, although many members do very generously join for more. You don’t have to commit to doing anything other than paying your dues although there are many activities you might contribute to if you are so moved.
