---- — HAMPSTEAD —On Sat., August 3, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the Hampstead Public Library screens the Peter Jackson movie based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s novel “The Hobbit.” Come with us on this adventurous journey as we delve into dwarfish caverns filled with gold, troll bolt holes, and goblin caves. DIG INTO DINOSAURS - On Tues., August 6, educators from the Boston Museum of Science present “Dig Into Dinosaurs” at the Hampstead Public Library. This hands-on program gives kids a chance to think like paleontologists and explore the world of dinosaurs. Participants interact with real and model fossils, study a simulated dinosaur trackway to test their ideas about how it was made, and excavate a replica field site. There are two sessions of this presentation, at 2:00 p.m. and again at 3:00 p.m. Attendance is limited and advanced registration is required. FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT - On Wed., August 7 at 6:30 p.m., the Hampstead Public Library will have a free movie showing for adults and kids. The film is a feature length version of the dazzling BBC series Planet Earth. This stunning look at nature shows us whales cavorting in the oceans, rivers crashing down mountain-height waterfalls, the migratory patterns of several species and many other wonders. Narrated by James Earl Jones, this movie will delight adults and kids of all ages.

KIDS SUMMER READING FINALE - Mark your calendars and make sure you don’t miss the spectacular Finale for the Hampstead Public Library’s Children’s Summer Reading Program on Thurs., August 8 at 2:00 p.m. There will be fun for kids and parents with a make-your-own ice cream sundae bar, raffle drawings, and a special performance by Mystic Drumz. Come and enjoy this unique world music adventure with an interactive percussion experience. No advanced sign-up is necessary.

AUGUST BOOK DISCUSSION - On Thurs., August 15 at 1:00 p.m., the Hampstead Public Library’s Third Thursday Book Group will discuss “The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane” by Katherine Howe. Copies of the book are available at the library. Newcomers are always welcome to the discussions.
