---- — HAMPSTEAD —Youth Services Librarian, Patty Falconer, hits the road and invites families to join her at the Hampstead Town Garage on Mon., July 22 at 2:00 p.m. Kids will get an up-close look at cool digging trucks. The garage is located on Stage Road/Route 121.

DIG INTO THE DEEP SEA: On Tues., July 23 at 2:00 p.m., the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire will present a special program at the Hampstead Public Library, “Dig Into the Deep Sea.” This interactive program will focus on the deepest trenches of the ocean and the unique bioluminescent creatures that live there. The museum educator will lead participants in a deep sea adventure using specimens, vibrant images and videos of animals. Kids will take home a glowing creature activity! Attendance is limited and advanced registration for this event is required. Please visit or call the library (329-6411) to check availability.

POTTERY: Students entering middle school this year are invited to try their hands at pottery on Wed., July 24 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hampstead Public Library. Artists from Healing Touch Pottery in East Hampstead will teach participants how to make pots on a wheel and by hand. No advance sign-up is required.

TALENT SHOW: Friends, family, and people of all ages are welcome to the seventh annual Hampstead Idol at the Hampstead Public Library on Thurs., July 25 at 6:30 p.m. This variety show is sure to provide fun entertainment for the whole family. If you’d like to be a performer, contact the library in advance by calling 329-6411. Kids and adults are welcome to be a part of the show as entertainers or as part of the cheering audience.

MEET MASTER GARDENER: The Hampstead Public Library welcomes certified Master Gardner Thomas Mickey on Tues., July 23 at 7:00 p.m. Mickey is the author of the recently published “America’s Romance with the English Garden.” He will discuss the development of American gardening, and show how it was influenced by the colorful depictions of English gardens in 19th century marketing. Copies of his book will be available for purchase and signing.

ART EXHIBIT: Now through mid-August in the second floor meeting room of the Hampstead Public Library, art created by the library staff is on display. Come see photographs that capture the glorious Storybook Garden in bloom. Enjoy the colorful Shakespeare vignettes. View the landscape paintings, still-life pastels, and watercolors. Intricate needlework also adorns the walls, and knitted blankets can be found in the first floor display cabinet. The librarians had fun creating this artwork, and hope you take pleasure viewing it.
