---- — PLAISTOW —The library would like to thank Mr. Thomas Cullen for the newest fun-filled addition to the children’s section: an AWE Literacy Computer Station. Mr. Cullen’s generous donation on behalf of his late wife, Constance Cullen provided a colorful children’s room rug, and the Literacy Station, a computer designed for kids to learn and build a variety of skills through animated software. The Literacy Station is up and running; kids may sign up with Miss Nancy for a thirty-minute session to try it out. Donations like Mr. Cullen’s are deeply appreciated by the library. The support of community members like him enhances the library’s atmosphere in countless ways.

Celebrate Summer Reading Week Five’s “Dive In” theme with three fun-filled events relating to all things under the sea. On Tues., July 30 girls age 3-12 may join Jessica Callahan for “Fishtails & Mermaid Braids,” to create mermaid hair-dos, braids and a hair-tool craft. Then ‘Dig Into the Deep Sea; Fish Aren’t Afraid of the Dark’ presented by the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire takes place Wed., July 31 at 11:00 a.m. Dig into the darkest depths of the deep blue sea and explore why some creatures glow! Look at specimens, vibrant images and videos of animals, do science experiments and a take-home glowing-creature activity. Designed for Ages 4-10, though all ages are welcome. And Miss Nancy’s weekly SRP program “Dive In” meets at 2:00 p.m. on Thurs., August 1 for under the sea crafts and activities. These programs are intended for those enrolled in the Plaistow Public Library Summer Reading Program; please register in advance as space is limited.

Visit the library Wed., July 31 for this week’s family movie relating to the under-the-sea theme. The movie begins at 5:45 p.m. and refreshments will be served. Registration is required. All ages welcome.

The next ‘Dear Teen Me’ Book Club will be held Tuesday evening August 6, from 6:00–7:00 p.m. for grades 9-12. This is a required reading selection for all TRHS students this summer. Cara Marsh, our youth services assistant, assists students with timelines for completing the required assignments associated with the reading. Refreshments will be served. The Summer Reading Program halfway point raffle was a great success. The final raffle will take place on Thurs., August 22, at the Summer Reading Closing Ceremony with “Rockin’ Singalong: Dig Into Reading” with musician and storyteller Steve Blunt. Drawings will be held along with an Ice Cream Social, ice cream provided courtesy of ‘Beyond Vanilla’ in Hampstead. All ages are welcome. Registration is required as space is limited.
