---- — HAMPSTEAD - December is here and it’s time to get into the holiday spirit with some appropriate music from the Windham Flute Ensemble at the Hampstead Public Library on Tues., December 11, at 7:00 p.m. This free concert will feature holiday tunes to escort in the season. The nine flautists are under the direction of David Howard, president of the Windham Community Bands and a well-known performer with many area groups. The group plays in the “Pops” model so you know you will enjoy some light-hearted musical entertainment. Refreshments will follow the program along with the opportunity to chat with the performers. The program is free and open to the general public from the greater Hampstead area, as are all Friends of the Library presentations. Members of the Friends are asked to please stay after the program for the regular monthly meeting.
SANTA RAFFLE BASKET - There’s a charming red and green basket just waiting for some lucky person to claim it and all its contents when the winning ticket is drawn just before the Windham Flute Ensemble concert on December 11th. The basket holds a myriad of Santas: wooden Santas, ceramic Santas, a glass Santa, a pewter Santa, a fabric Santa, Santa napkins, a Santa notepad and, last but not least, chocolate Santas. But you can’t win this wonderful Santa collection if you don’t enter the raffle. Tickets are available at the front desk of the library and will also be sold just before the drawing outside the meeting room. They are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. And the basket itself is included and will make the perfect place for all the cards you receive or as a container for goodies you plan to give to some else.
THRIFT SHOP PRE-HOLIDAY SALE - Come one, come all to the Hollyhock Thrift Shop’s Half-Price Winter Sale. If you’re looking for something special to wear to a holiday party or need to get those growing youngsters a few things in a larger size the Thrift Shop is the place for you, especially during the half-price sale that will take place on December 8, 11 and 18. The shop will be closed after the sale until it re-opens on January 8th. During the sale, the shop will be open its normal hours of Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon. It is still accepting donations of gently used clean clothing for men, women and children throughout the sale and while it is closed for re-stocking over the holidays.
