PLAISTOW — Card-Making with Lorraine McNulty and Colleen Ferrante meets Thurs., December 13, at 6:30 p.m. We will make two each of four designs for a $15.00 materials fee. Space is limited to fifteen: please register online in advance. Bring papercraft adhesive and scissors. This is an adult-level class.

Bring the kids to a festive Ornament Workshop on Sat., December 8, from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., sponsored by the Plaistow Recreation Department and the library. This event is free.

The library will hold an open house Goodbye Party for Mrs. Lu, our well-loved Assistant Director and Head of Youth Services, on Mon., December 10, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Come by to thank her for fourteen years of service to the library and the community. The library will close at 5:00 p.m. that evening for a Staff Celebration.

A Family Film will be shown Sat., December 15 at 10:30 a.m. Call the library or ask at the desk for the movie’s title.

New magazine subscriptions for 2013 are beginning to arrive! Thanks to Mr. Tom Cullen for his donation of “Ireland of the Welcomes.” New titles will be available for circulation in January.

Missed our Scholastic Book Fair? Our ongoing book sale is a great place to pick up bargains. A variety of books in excellent condition are being donated every day.

Antique hunters will be impressed with one of our new databases, Price It! Antiques & Collectibles (Gale). Here you will find a collection of guides for appraising art, furniture, jewelry, toys and more. All you need is your library card to log in and find valuable information about your treasures!

Cribbage meets Wednesdays from 2:00-4:00 p.m.—come to the library to sharpen your cribbage skills and socialize! Snacks and drinks provided by Plaistow Recreation and the library.

Join us for LEGO/WII Fridays to build with our large LEGOs collection or challenge yourself to a game of Wii. Preschool children meet 1:00-2:30 p.m., School-aged children 3:00-4:30 p.m.

  • Catherine F. "Kitty" (Clements) Brown, 66

    Ft. Gibson, OK — Catherine F. "Kitty" (Clements) Brown passed away February 17, 2013, at her home in Ft. Gibson, Okla., after a brave battle with cancer. Kitty was born in Brentwood, N.H., on April 21, 1946, to the late Chester H. Clements and Catherine F. (Morse) Clements. She was raised in Kingston, N.H., and graduated from Sanborn Seminary. She lived for many years on Plum Island, Mass. While living on Plum Island, she was a columnist and photographer for The Daily News of Newburyport, as well as a school bus driver.

  • Ted "Teddy" Bolduc

    Fremont, N.H. — Ted “Teddy” Burleigh Bolduc, was born the youngest son of Phyllis and Joseph Bolduc Sr., on May 22, 1962. He died suddenly April 8, 2013, after a brief illness. Ted lived for most of his life in Fremont and Raymond. He was well known for his skills with heavy equipment and worked all his life in construction and excavation in the Fremont and Epping area. In addition to his work, he loved ice hockey, baseball, hunting, country music, and animals, especially his dog Finlay. He was very proud of, and also loved by, his very large family.
