KINGSTON —The Reach for the Stars program, through Usborne books, is a pledge-based reading incentive program that encourages the habit of daily reading and gets children excited about literacy! For ten days (February 18-27), children will read for thirty-minutes each day (non-readers, fifteen-minutes), and collect pledges for the minutes they read. Fifty-percent of pledges raised stay with the child in the form of books from the Usborne catalog. The other fifty-percent goes to the Children’s Room to help purchase books and to help plan an awesome Summer Reading Program! Children that receive ten pledges of $10.00 also receive a special Kid-Kit for free! Special prizes will be awarded for most pledges, reading over 1000 minutes, and most minutes read! Stop by the Children’s room for more information, or email Miss Sue at childrensprogram@kingston-library.org.

Drop in on Wed., February 20, between 4:00-6:00 p.m., to sample literature inspired food created by the staff and patrons during our Cook Off. Copies of recipes and their inspirational literature will be on display all week!

The New Hampshire ASPCA will present Responsible Pet Ownership Fri., February 15 at 2:00 p.m. Join us for a presentation by Courtney Brooks with her animal friend about what it means to be a good pet owner. If you can, bring with you a donation of supplies that the ASPCA needs to continue helping animals in need. A list of needed supplies will be available at the library’s front desk two weeks before the program. All ages are welcome!

Show your family the love! Mark your calendars for Family Nights this February.
