PLAISTOW — Do you have the time and desire to fight for library services? What about a strong, unshakeable belief in the importance of libraries? Seats are opening on the Board of Trustees and the library is in need of committed persons to fill these places.
If you are interested in volunteering as a library trustee, please sign up at the Town Office before Fri., February 1. Trustees’ duties include adopting bylaws for the government of the library, preparing an annual budget for the support and maintenance of the library, expending moneys raised and appropriated by the town for library purposes, and appointing the librarian (director) and, in consultation with the librarian, all other employees of the library. If you would like an opportunity to help the library remain a vital and vibrant part of the community, please sign up to run for trustee.
The library will show a fun Family Film on Sat., February 2 at 10:30 a.m., in the Craft Room. All ages are welcome and popcorn and drink are provided. Ask at the library for movie titles.
Winter Reading Program starts on Fri., February 1, Take Your Child to the Library Day. Read to your child in grades K-2, every day from February 1-28 and when you visit the library, share your reading log for stickers for each day of reading. Get a free book if you have a sticker for every day!
Antique model “O Gauge” trains are on display at the library courtesy of John Muise for the month of January. Come peruse the glass cases for trains and information about these treasures, dating from the early 1900’s to 1960s. Photos are on our Facebook page for a preview.
Card-Making with Lorraine and Colleen meets Thurs., February 7 at 6:30 p.m. Bring your favorite scissors and adhesive to make two each of four designs, for a materials fee of $15.00. This is an adult-level class. Please register in advance—space is limited. Card designs are on display on our website, our Facebook page, and at the library.
