Hampstead Library News

HAMPSTEAD —The next Books for Breakfast at the Hampstead Public Library takes place on Sat., January 19, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. This event is designed to give families a chance to spend time together in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Come enjoy books, crafts, hot drinks and breakfast.

The Hampstead Public Library will be closed on Mon., January 21 in observance of Martin Luther King Day.

On Monday January 28 at 7:00 p.m., the Non-Fiction Book Group at the Hampstead Public Library will be discussing “The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid” by Bill Bryson. Warm and laugh-out-loud funny, this memoir is full of Bryson’s observations about life during the 1950’s in the American Midwest. Copies of the book are available at the library’s front desk. Newcomers are always welcome, and are encouraged to come and help choose further books for the group to read and discuss.

If you have ever wanted to learn how to cross stitch or if you need a refresher workshop with an instructor, come to the Hampstead Public Library on Tues., January 29 at 1:00 p.m. for a “Getting Started with Cross Stitch” workshop. Get to know this wonderful needlework art on a beginner’s level by stitching a project that will be completed in one session. Find out how to prepare material and threads. Learn to center and begin your design, as well as how to stitch in different directions. Stitches learned will be cross stitch and backstitch. All cross stitch materials and handouts will be included. Please bring a small pair of scissors and a magnifier if you need one. If you are interested in participating, please sign-up for this workshop at the library’s front desk, call 329-6411, or email jarden@hampstead.lib.nh.us. In the event of inclement weather, the snow date for this event is Thurs., January 31 at 1:00 p.m.
