---- — EAST KINGSTON — Story Time at the East Kingston Public Library is held every Monday and Friday at 10:00 a.m. Join us for a weekly read-aloud and craft activity.
Learn listening skills and enjoy an introduction to the library. Meet other parents and grandparents of preschoolers as you listen to a story with Miss Tracy. Jim Trelease in his book, “The Read-Aloud Handbook”, is a strong proponent of advantages of reading aloud to youngsters.
Visit his website: www.trealese-on-reading.com.
Two sites you might enjoy visiting are www.2.readaloud.org and www.k12reader.com.
Both these sites support the read-a-loud as a way to build literacy skills, model behavior to show children that reading is “valued and pleasurable”, and to “Bond, entertain, explain and inspire”.
It is never too early to introduce your child to the library. Join us at story time and take home books to share through the week with your little one. Make read-a-loud a habit. You will be glad you did.
