HAMPSTEAD - The Hampstead Public Library is having two free movie screenings in the month of December. The first is a matinee on Sat., December 14, at 12 noon. Attendees vote to choose the movie. Options are the Muppet version of Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” the animated adaptation of Chris Van Allsburg’s “The Polar Express,” or the new Disney animated feature about airplanes. Cast your vote when you visit the library. Some refreshments will be provided, but you are also welcome to bring your own lunch or snack. All those who attend will be entered to win a gift card for a local movie theater!
The second free movie at the library this month is on Tuesday the 17th at 6:30 p.m. Get in the spirit of the season by watching Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby sing and dance their way through the year in this film which features 13 songs by composer Irving Berlin. Crosby plays a song and dance man who leaves showbiz to run a New England inn that is open only on holidays. Astaire is his former partner and rival in love with the same woman. Highlights include Astaire’s 4th of July firecracker dance and Crosby singing “White Christmas.”
Both events are open to the public.
