October at SPL

SANDOWN – Sandown Public Library has planned lots of activities for all ages during the month of October. Be sure to check the Calendar on the library website, www.sandownlibrary.us, for all the details and to register for each event.

Lego Donations Needed: The Library would like to start a Lego Club and is looking for donations of new or “gently-used” Legos to get started. Please bring any donations to the library during open hours.

Museum Passes Available: As the weather gets chillier, take advantage of one of the twelve museum passes available at the library that allow you visit free of charge or for a discounted price. Reserve a pass online or call the library for availability. We thank the Friends of the Library for their generous support of this program.

Chess Club: Chess Club will meet on Thurs., October 18, beginning at 6:30 p.m. All ages are welcome to play. No experience is needed. Chess master Monty Cole is ready to challenge your every move and help strengthen your strategic skills.

Beyond The Basics - Home Decorating: Get some tips and tricks for affordable holiday decorating on Wed., October 24 beginning at 6:30 p.m. with certified home decorator, re-designer and stager Kerri Durkee of Functional Home Designs. Durkee will demonstrate how creative holiday tablescapes, centerpieces and mantels can be designed applying her fundamentals of FAB (functional, affordable and beautiful) design. By applying the principles of redesign--using what you already own--as well as some thrifty and resourceful ideas, she finds solutions to home challenges and creates spaces that fit a homeowner’s needs.

Halloween Party - Preschool through 1st Grade: Beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Sat., October 27, preschoolers through first graders are invited to begin their Halloween festivities with stories at the library, followed by a costume parade to Town Hall, where the Mother’s Club will offer spooky snacks, music, and a fun craft. Join us for a ghoulishly good time and take home a special treat - without the trick!
