The Summer Reading Kick-off Event features Mike Bent of ‘AbraKIDabra!’ at 6:00 p.m. on June 27. Come by at 5:00 p.m. for pizza and to register and get more information about this year’s Summer Reading Programs for children, teens, and adults. Each of the six weeks of Summer Reading will have a different sub-theme with crafts, activities, movies and special events associated with that week’s theme. The theme for Week One is “Just Dig It.” Join us Tues., July 2 at 11:00 a.m. for crafts, activities, and games relating to dirt, gardening, and underground critters. This program is recommended for ages 3-12 enrolled in the Plaistow Public Library Summer Reading Program. Registration is required as space is limited. On Wed., July 3, at 5:45 p.m. the library will show a movie related to the “Dig Into Reading” theme. Visit the library every Wednesday evening throughout the summer for a family movie relating to that week’s Summer Reading theme. Movies will begin at 5:45 p.m. and refreshments will be served. Registration is required as space is limited. All Ages.

The teen summer reading program, “Beneath The Surface”, will feature raffle prizes and special programs and activities relating to “Under the Earth”, “Under The Water”, “Subcultures & Steampunk.” We are also featuring the “Dear Teen Me” Book Club for grades 9-12 on alternate Tuesday nights at 6:00 p.m. beginning July 9.
