---- — HAMPSTEAD - On Columbus Day weekend, the Hampstead Public Library will be open Sat., October 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., closed Sunday, and closed on Mon., October 14.
AUTHOR VISIT – The Hampstead Public Library is pleased to welcome author Terry Farish on Thurs., Oct. 17, at 1 p.m. Farish is author of the award winning novel “The Good Braider.” She will address the book discussion group, discussing her novel and sharing some of her experiences in Kenya and in Maine that led to writing the book. “The Good Braider” is a School Library Journal Best Book for Young Adults and an American Library Association Best Fiction book for Young Adults, 2013. It was selected as the 2013 Bank Street College of Education Best Book of the Year and a book of Outstanding Merit. Farish directs the literacy program of the NH Humanities Council and she is working with Nepali-speaking people from Bhutan to produce a Bhutanese folktale in Nepali and English. HAUNTED LIGHTHOUSES - Lighthouses are beautiful icons of coastal New England, but lighthouses and ghost stories often seem to go hand-in-hand.
